Hazing victim Atio Castillo survived Paco fire in 2005

Horacio "Atio" Castillo III was fortunate to survive a fire that struck a building in Paco, Manila.

The building along Nakpil Street in Paco was razed by fire on December 7, 2005.

Castillo's family was trapped on the building's rooftop, but they were rescued by responding firemen.

His father, Horacio Jr., sprained a foot while trying to save one of his children.

Atio, then 10 years old, injured his feet and was seen in a video being carried by the rescuers.

Fast-forward to 2017, 22-year-old UST law student Castillo was not fortunate enough to survive hazing.

Castillo was already dead when brought to the Chinese General Hospital by fratman John Paul Solano last September 17.

Solano is currently detained at the Manila Police District as police investigate Castillo's death.

The Department of Justice has issued a lookout bulletin order against 20 people, including Solano, suspected of being involved in the fatal hazing.

Among those included in the lookout bulletin is Ralph Caballes Trangia, who left the country for the US on Tuesday. —report from Jamie Santos/ALG/KG, GMA News
