President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Interior Undersecretary John Castriciones as acting secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform.
Duterte signed Castriciones' appointment paper on Friday. The appointment was confirmed to GMA News Online by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
Castriciones, together with Interior Undersecretaries Emily Padilla and Jesus Hinlo, was among the three DILG undersecretaries who informed Duterte in April of erstwhile Interior Secretary Mike Sueno's alleged corruption.
Duterte eventually sacked Sueno, who had been the subject of his anti-corruption rhetoric since then. But Sueno denied the accusations against him.
Duterte's first DAR secretary, Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano, failed to hurdle the powerful Commission on Appointments in September.
He was the fourth Duterte appointee who was rejected by the bicameral commission.
Duterte then named Undersecretary Rosalina Bistoyong as the DAR's officer-in-charge. —NB, GMA News
