President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday handed over P100 million to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).

Malacañang said that Duterte promised to add more to the donation before the yearend, from the funds from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation. He also directed the VMMC officials get quality medical equipment.

“Buy the best, huwag yung lowest bid… I want quality. Quality ako,” he was quoted in a press release.

During the visit, Duterte gave groceries to the 19 patients undergoing hemodialysis.

The President during the 82nd anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines said he would subsidize the medicines of the soldiers.

"They need the management for bills. It’s P50 million monthly para sa AFP. Pati P50 million sa V. Luna [General Hospital]," he said. — BAP, GMA News
