Lacson ‘apologizes’ to House leader: I should have said ‘dobleng kapal ang mukha’

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Sunday hit back at Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro for criticizing him over his remarks against some lawmakers pushing for a joint constituent assembly to amend the 1987 Constitution.

In an earlier Super Radyo dzBB interview, Castro condemned Lacson for calling some congressmen "makapal ang mukha," pointing out that the senator's statements against the issue on term extension and amending the Constitution were all "speculative."

Castro also said Lacson has no right to accuse his fellow lawmakers, warning the senator that he could lose the respect of the people who voted for him.

Lacson, on Thursday, slammed lawmakers who prefer a joint constituent assembly in amending the 1987 Constitution, noting that it would violate the doctrine of checks and balance.

"Kung isang buong constituent assembly yung both houses, wala nang check and balance.

Lacson will file a resolution proposing to constitute the Senate as a separate constituent assembly to ensure that the upper chamber is not rendered irrelevant in amending the Constitution to pave the way for the government's shift to federal system. —ALG, GMA News
