Imee Marcos for senator? ‘Kung kailanganin ay tatakbo’

The Marcos family is apparently growing impatient with the pace of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s election protest — so much so that his governor sister is considering a 2019 Senate run "if necessary."

Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos was asked at a press briefing in Laoag on Saturday if her out-of-province trips and presence in "grand celebrations" were indications that she was eyeing a Senate seat.

"Hindi ko pa alam eh, depende kay Secretary Roque, sunud-sunuran lang ako," she first said in jest, referring to presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr., who was seated beside her.

"Hindi, ang totoo talagang naiinip na kami sa protesta ni Bongbong. So kailangan umikot, magpasalamat at kung kailanganin ay tatakbo. Hangga’t may lupa tatakbo. Bahala na," she said.

Bongbong, on the other hand, had earlier said he was not going to run for the Senate in 2019, instead training his focus on winning his election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.

The former senator has recently revealed apparently Supreme Court-released ballot images that he said were evidence of election fraud.

However, Robredo's camp has dismissed the allegation as “highly ridiculous if not outright frivolous.— MDM, GMA News
