Duterte to Canadians: How stupid can you get?

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday hit Canada for its decision last month to order a review of the $233-million agreement to sell helicopters to the Philippines amid concerns the aircraft could be used to fight rebels.

The Philippine military had already canceled the deal following a directive from Duterte.

"My God, you Canadians, how stupid can you get? Our citizens are joining the ISIS so we have every right to kill our citizens because we do not want to destroy the community with apathy," Duterte told local officials in a speech at the Manila Hotel.

"Gago pala kayo...You're treating us like garbage. The entire community of the world should know that there is a Republic of the Philippines which you cannot just fucking shit. Do not do it to us because I will insult you. Who are you?" the President said.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana had earlier said that 16 Bell 412 choppers the Armed Forces of the Philippines was supposed to buy from Canada will primarily be used for the transportation of personnel and supplies, ferrying wounded and injured soldiers, and the conduct of humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.

He said the purpose of the choppers was to "save lives."

The military is now looking at South Korea, Russia, China, and Turkey as potential new supplier of the helicopters. — BAP, GMA News
