Robredo apologizes for holocaust memorial photo

Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday apologized over the photo of her and several Liberal Party lawmakers at a holocaust memorial in Germany.

"Ako, I think they have a point, and in fact, gusto ko mag-apologize for offending the sensitivities of others," Robredo told reporters on the sidelines of the ASEAN Forum on Enterprise for Society in Manila City.

This comes after Robredo and several other Liberal Party lawmakers drew criticisms, particularly those supportive of the Duterte administration, after they posed for a photo at a holocaust memorial in Germany.

Uploaded on Twitter by Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat Jr., the photo included Quezon City Representative Jose Christopher "Kit" Belmonte, Dinagat Islands Representative Kaka Bag-Ao, Marikina Representative Miro Quimbo, former Budget Secretary Florencio "Butch" Abad, and LP President Senator Francis Pangilinan.

The photo has since been taken down by Baguilat "so as not to hurt sensibilities."

"Ano naman yun, there was no excuse. While there was no malice in it, ano pa din, I take full responsibility kaya I would like to apologize for whatever offense to the sensitivities of people it caused," Robredo said. —ALG, GMA News
