DOT bids out P1.29-M contract for reversible jackets for birthday celebrants

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced the bidding out for a P1.294-million contract for the procurement of reversible jackets which will be given to employees celebrating their birthdays.

In an invitation to bid released on the DOT website, the department has invited prospective firms to bid for the contract totaling P1,294,500.00

"The DOT now invites bids for the Procurement of Reversible Jackets for the DOT Birthday Celebrators," the invitation read.

Under the invitation, prospective bidders — restricted to Filipino citizens — are required to complete the contract requirements.

The complete set of bidding documents was made available from April 4 to 24 this year, under a fee of P5,000.

Under the terms indicated in the invitation, the bidding was scheduled to have happened at the DOT building on April 24.

In Malacañang, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said he was not aware of the project.

"Paumanhin po, pero iyong mga one million [na] mga appropriation, hindi na po nakakarating iyan sa Tanggapan ng Presidente," Roque said in a press briefing.

The Commission on Audit recently raised the red flag on the P60-million worth of DOT advertisements that aired on Kilos Pronto, a program of DOT Secretary Wanda Teo's brother Ben Tulfo.

Following the controversy, Teo's lawyer Ferdinand Topacio on Monday said that Tulfo's Bitag Media Unlimited Inc. will return the P60 million it received to air the DOT advertisements on state-run People's Television Network. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas with a report by Virgil Lopez/KBK/BM, GMA News
