20 MORE TO BE SUMMONED

11 online bashers of Albayalde face possible dismissal from PNP

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Tuesday said that policemen who bashed him on social media will be charged with conduct unbecoming of an officer and may be dismissed from the service.

Albayalde said he summoned 11 policemen suspected of bashing him online. Only nine, including a Senior Inspector, showed up.

"Well kinausap ko lang naman sila, binash ko lang din sila, 'de biro lang, I talked to them, I made them realize na mali ang ginagawa ng mga ganyan because sabi ko nga we are in the uniform service, under the constitution...we have limited although we practice freedom of speech," Albayalde said.

"...Of course, there'll be filed cases also. Hindi naman palalampasin 'yon, iyong ginawa nilang ganon so they will be charged with conduct unbecoming and that can be a reason for their dismissal from the service," he added.

After assuming the top PNP post, Albayalde said he ordered the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management to identify the policemen who posted negative comments against him on Facebook page Buhay Lespu.

Albayalde said the nine policemen are mostly assigned in the Aviation Security Group's units in Cavite, Navotas, Leyte, and Cordillera.

He said the two policemen who did not show up will be summoned again and if they again fail to report, they will be charged with additional charges for disobedience.

Albayalde said that 20 more policemen also suspected of bashing him online will be summoned to his office.

The PNP chief refused suggestions that the policemen who bashed him online are demoralized.

"That's not demoralization. 'Pag minumura mo iyong isang commander mo at his back, hindi demoralization 'yon, that is conduct unbecoming. That is tantamount to insubordination," he said.

He said the nine policemen were apologetic during their meeting.

He said he summoned the policemen to remind the officers that there are proper ways to air their grievances, which is through the Grievance Committee of the PNP.

Albayalde said the policemen were resentful over his surprise inspections when he was the director of the National Capital Region Police Office.

"Ang sabi nila napapahiya daw iyong mga pulis. Ang tanong ko naman sa kanila, sino ang napapahiya dito, sila o iyong nakakarami na pulis na gumagawa ng tama, napapahiya ba sila? Mas napapahiya dito iyong mga pulis na gumagawa ng tama, hindi sila, dapat sila ang mahiya sa amin," he said. —ALG, GMA News
