Gov’t employees to receive mid-year bonus starting May 15 — DBM

Government employees will receive their mid-year bonus starting May 15, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said Wednesday.

"This mid-year bonus is equivalent to one month's basic salary," Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said in a breakfast forum in Manila.

The Budget chief said more than 1.5 million government workers will receive their mid-year bonuses.

The total amount allocated for the mid-year bonus of government personnel is around P36.2 billion, he said.

Under the Budget Circular No. 2017-2, government workers entitled to receive a mid-year bonus are all positions for civilian personnel, whether regular, casual, or contractual in nature, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time.

Also covered are military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of the Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine Coast Guard of the Department of Transportation, and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The granting of a mid-year bonus to government personnel is subject to the following conditions:

  • Those who have rendered at least a total of an aggregate four months of service from July 1, 2017 to May 15, 2018
  • Those who remain to be in government service as of May 15, 2018
  • Those who have obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating in the applicable performance appraisal period

"The amounts required for the grant of the fiscal year 2018 mid-year bonus to personnel of national government agencies are charged against the agency-specific allocation for the payment of mid-year bonus under the fiscal year 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA)," Diokno said.

The Budget chief said the funding requirement for the mid-year bonus has been comprehensively released to the agencies through the GAA as allotment order policy. — RSJ, GMA News
