DILG ready for May 14 barangay, SK polls —Usec. Diño

Undersecretary for barangay affairs Martin Diño said Saturday that the Department of the Interior and Local Government is ready for the conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on the last day of election campaigning, Diño said that the DILG, in cooperation with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police, have established an election monitoring system and set up command centers for Monday's polls.

Monitoring and reporting mechanisms have been set up down to the barangay level  throughout the country.

He likewise said that the filing of cases against barangay officials who were on the narco list will continue.

Next to be slapped with complaints, he said, are the barangay officials who failed to activate the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and submit report on illegal drugs activities in their areas.

Diño also reminded the voters to vote only those who are deserving of their right to suffrage. —LBG, GMA News
