Does Mocha Uson still enjoy Duterte’s trust? Palace reacts

Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson still enjoys the trust and confidence of President Rodrigo Duterte despite her involvement in yet another controversy over her social media post, Malacañang said Thursday.

"She hasn't been fired. For as long as she hasn't been fired, she enjoys trust and confidence because all presidential appointees serve at the pleasure of the President," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. told reporters.

Reviled by some quarters for allegedly spreading disinformation, Uson has drawn the ire of actress Kris Aquino who accused the Palace official of besmirching the legacy of her parents just to defend Duterte from attacks on his act of kissing a Filipino woman during a live event in South Korea on Sunday.

Uson compared Duterte kissing a Filipino woman in South Korea to Aquino's father, Marcos-era opposition leader and Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., getting kissed by two women on the last flight he took before getting killed in Manila in August 1983.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go on Wednesday said that Uson had agreed to say sorry to Kris over her social media post after Duterte extended his apologies to the actress.

Uson, however, refused to apologize.

Asked to comment on Uson's non-apology, Roque advised reporters to direct the question to Go.

"I defer to SAP Bong Go completely on this matter kasi siya ang sumagot. So he's privy to information on this and I'm not. So please ask Secretary Bong Go," Roque said.

Roque also said he would not "deviate" from Go's stance not to comment on the issue whether Uson is an asset or liability of the Duterte administration. — MDM, GMA News
