Robredo to Duterte: Fix PHL’s economic woes instead of insulting me

Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday urged President Rodrigo Duterte to focus on solving the problems plaguing the Philippine economy, instead of calling her incompetent and hurling other "insults" at her.

"Ayoko na sana i-dignify pero siguro sabihin ko na lang na imbes na insultuhin ako o ang Diyos, asikasuhin na lang muna ang mga problema ng ating ekonomiya," Robredo said in a text message sent to GMA News' Arnold Clavio.

In a speech on Tuesday, Duterte said Robredo would never be able to replace him as president because of her "incompetence."

"Look, I will not resign because it will make her president. My resignation is addressed to the people para makapili sila ng gusto nila. Siya, I don’t think she can ever be ready to govern a country. Reason? Incompetence,” Duterte said.

This came after Robredo mentioned that she was ready to lead the political opposition for the 2019 midterm elections.

Earlier in the day, Robredo's legal adviser, Barry Gutierrez, slammed Duterte, saying that the President was in no position to evaluate Robredo's leadership skills. — Anna Felicia Bajo/MDM, GMA News
