Sonny Angara named new president of LDP

Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara has been named the new president of Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, the party founded by his father and namesake, former Senate President Edgardo Angara, Super Radyo dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo reported on Saturday.

According to a statement, Angara's considers his election as a chance to "continue his father's aspirations not only for the 30-year-old party but for the nation as well."

The older Angara passed away in May this year due to a heart attack.

Recalling the Free High School Law authored by the late Senate president, the younger Angara vowed to pursue laws supporting families, teachers and free education.
