Solon wants results of Duterte’s endoscopy, colonoscopy

Anakpawis party-list Representative Ariel Casilao wants to see the results of President Rodrigo Duterte's colonoscopy and endoscopy if he indeed went through those procedures as Malacañang has announced.

Casilao said it was important the administration be transparent as regards the real state of the President's health.

"For lack of a document presenting to the public na ito naging result ng endoscopy o colonoscopy, you cannot blame the people to be very curious. Of course, sasabihin nila na regular check up lang yan," Casilao said.

Casilao said the President also cannot merely invoke privacy in failing to show proof on Duterte's medical status.

"Ang sa atin lang, gusto lang natin malaman. Karapatan din natin malaman kung ano ba talaga ang kanyang estado sa pamamagitan ng bukas-loob, boluntaryong paglahad," he said.

"Hindi naman siguro mabigat hingin ang medical, basic certification from his doctor na ganito naging result ng endoscopy or colonoscopy. It will suffice enough for the people’s right and the state’s obligation to inform his constituents," he added.

He said the public needs to see a medical bulletin that requires presentation of "factual medical condition" of the President.

"Obligasyon yan ng ating pangulo, ng ating gobyerno na maging bukas, maging sa kanyang kalagayan pangkalusugan," Casilao said.

Malacañang on Saturday said Duterte himself admitted that he had undergone colonoscopy and endoscopy in a speech before medical specialists attending a forum in Lapu-Lapu City on Friday.

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person's digestive tract. On the other hand, colonoscopy is an examination used to detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine and rectum.

Roque on Monday said Duterte would not have admitted undergoing such procedures if they were serious.

"Routine po yan just to find out kung merong bago. Kung seryoso po yan hindi naman aaminin ni Presidente," he said.

Casilao, however, is not content with Roque's statement, especially that there was no documented presented to the public. —NB, GMA News
