Duterte on ICC: Why would I allow myself to be tried by few idiots?

President Rodrigo Duterte, again, on Friday said that he would not  submit himself for trial in The Hague-based International Criminal Court, making claims that a few people there are "idiots."

In his speech before the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea on Friday, Duterte said, "Itong mga human rights yung mga taga-EU, yang European community, yung mga puti... idinemanda ako sa ICC kasi imbestigahin daw ako. Sinong may sabi sa inyo?"

Duterte does not recognize the ICC, as it is an EU creation, and that it is not the International Court of Justice. He claimed that some of its judges are probably pedophiles and drunkards.

"Sabi ko I do not recognize the ICC. It is a creation of EU. Hindi ‘yan ‘yung international court of justice. Sabi ko, sino ‘yung judges ninyo diyan? Bakit kasama ba kami pagpili nitong mga g*****, p***** i**** puti na ‘yan? Baka ito pedophile. ‘Yan man karamihan sa kanila. Ito palahubog, itong judge na ito... So why would I allow myself to be tried by a few idiots...?"

He also repeated his threat to slap one of ICC prosecutors who is in Manila.

"Yung putot na itim [short and dark] na prosecutor nila nandiyan sa Manila sige pa-presscon kay she will start… Sabi ko ikaw putota ka [hey, 'shortie'] bantay ‘pag nakita kita sampalin kita."

The ICC is eyeing to begin soon its investigation into alleged human rights violations of the Duterte administration, due to the thousands of deaths linked to his drive against illegal drugs.

Recently, a lawyer sued Duterte before the ICC for allegedly committing crimes against humanity, also stemming from the rising number of deaths related to his war on drugs.  —LBG, GMA News
