Duterte gives Palace employees P50-k bonus after being told how much Davao workers were getting

President Duterte on Monday sent holiday cheer to Malacañang employees by authorizing the release of P50,000 Christmas bonus across the board.

Duterte initially announced during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony held in the Palace grounds that the employees of the Office of the President will receive P40,000 as their bonus.

He raised it to P50,000 after learning that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who was at the event, would be giving P50,000 to City Hall employees.

“So, hindi tayo magpalugi sa Davao. Sabi ko wala akong pakialam magnakaw ka na, dispakulhin mo ‘yang pera basta gawain mong P50k. It’s gonna be P50k. Okay na ‘yan,” Duterte said.

Duterte's announcement came days after Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said on November 21 that employees working for government agencies that generated savings will receive a cash incentive of not exceeding P25,000 through the collective negotiation agreement in December.

The incentive covers regular, contractual, or casual positions, full-time or part-time in national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations, local water districts, and local government units.

The CNA incentive is on top of the year-end bonus and P5,000 cash gift for state workers beginning November 15. —NB, GMA News
