Man proposes to girlfriend during Traslacion

A couple on Wednesday became scene-stealers in front of Quiapo church during the Feast of the Black Nazarene when, in the middle of a huge crowd, the man got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.

A bunch of their friends revealed pieces of paper carrying single letters that spelled out: “Will you marry me?”

Christian Genese, 23, and Christine Orpiano, 21, have been together for six years and are already scheduled to be wed on Friday.

Genese, however, has yet to formally propose to Orpiano until today.

“Gusto namin sa harap ng maraming tao,” the young man, a Black Nazarene devotee, said.

“‘Di pa nagsi-sink in,” said Orpiano, beaming.

According to a separate report by Maki Pulido on GMA's "24 Oras," the couple met each other in Canada when they were still on 10th grade.

They are both living abroad and are only on vacation in Manila.

Both prayed to the Black Nazarene for a successful relationship as soon-to-be husband and wife. —Dona Magsino/ KBK/ LDF, GMA News
