Ex-Pres. Aquino denies warnings were made against the use of Dengvaxia

Former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III belied claims that he had been warned against the  purchase and use of the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" reported on Friday.

In the face of the House Committees on Good Government and Public Accountability's recommendation that charges be filed against Aquino and other officials for the controversial vaccine, Aquino said that he did what he thought was right when he gave his approval for the purchase of Dengvaxia.

The former president also emphasized there was no such attempt to warn him against the vaccine's use,  contrary to the committee's report which claimed Aquino refused to listen to such warnings.

As to the source of the funding for the purchase of the vaccine, Aquino said that this came from the 2015 Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund, in accordance with the Supreme Court's and Congress' definition of savings. — Kaela Malig/DVM, GMA News
