By VIRGIL LOPEZ,GMA News

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday missed his scheduled public appearances in hometown Davao City due to migraine.

Duterte’s former top aide Bong Go said the President was suffering from migraine and that there was nothing to worry about.

Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, who was at the campaign rally, also said the President was not feeling well.

“Indisposed. Not feeling well. He also missed an earlier event in Davao involving land title distribution. That’s what I have been told,” Pimentel said in a text message to GMA News Online.

Malacañang has yet to issue a statement.

Duterte was supposed to lead the ceremonial distribution of certificates of land ownership award in Davao Region at 5 p.m., but it was his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who showed up at the University of Mindanao on his behalf.

The President also missed the People’s Political Grand Rally at the Crocodile Park Grounds in Barangay Ma-a, Davao City where he was expected to pitch for votes for his preferred senatorial candidates.

Last February 1, Duterte failed to attend a peace and order summit with barangay officials in Leyte due to slight fever.

Duterte's absence from the public eye for a few days last month had sparked speculations in social media that he passed away.

Responding to the online rumors of his death, Duterte appeared on Facebook's live video streaming in which he asked for messages from priests and the last wishes of drug users, which he said he would deliver to God.

The 73-year-old leader also asked those who believed the rumor to pray for the "eternal repose of my soul." —NB, GMA News
