More than 80,000 passengers head to ports as Holy Week starts — PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday recorded 82,962 passengers who took their trips early on the first day of the Holy Week, according to a report by Isa Avendaño-Umali on Super Radyo dzBB.

According to Oplan Biyaheng Ayos, the total number of outbound passengers in ports across the country was recorded from 6 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday.

The PCG continues to monitor the situation in ports  to ensure the safety of passengers this Holy Week season, while medical personnel were on standby.

At the North Harbor Passenger Terminal in Manila, passengers were still in long lines buying tickets. By the time 1,200 passengers had departed from the terminal, many more were still waiting.

The management reminded passengers that overnight staying is prohibited at the North Harbor Passenger Terminal and advised them to come to the terminal only on the day of their scheduled trip.

More passengers are expected to surge to the ports in the coming days of the Holy Week. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
