Rodel Jayme apologizes to Duterte, feels bad for Kitty

The man who was arrested for sharing the "Ang Totoong Narco List" videos on the website he made has apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte and members of his family who were linked to the protection of illegal drugs in the country.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras", web administrator Rodel Jayme apologized in particular to Duterte's teenage daughter Veronica.

"President Duterte at sa buong sambayanan niya, hindi ko pinlano, wala akong idea, walang sapat na kaalaman doon sa pagpapakalat," Jayme said.

"Humihingi po ako ng patawad sa mga tao lalo na sa pamilya ng Pangulo, lalo na menor-de-edad na anak," he added.

Jayme said he had no idea whether the content of the videos were true or fabrication.

The videos, which Malacañang has linked to an ouster plot against Duterte, featured a narrator who alleged that members of First Family were involved in the protection of illegal drugs in the country.

The narrator, who was identified only as Bikoy, presented supposed evidence of payoffs. He said he was once a member of a drug syndicate.

Jayme took exception at the mention of Duterte's youngest daughter, 15-year-old Veronica, or Kitty.

"Para sa akin, mali 'yun, masakit 'yun, kasi kumbaga, kung iaano mo sa sarili mo 'yun, kahit sabhin mo kamag-anak, kung sisiraan is bata, hindi maganda para sa akin kasi nagdawit ka ng isang bata," Jayme said.

Jayme showed pictures of an alias "Marie Xie," whom he claimed was the one who approached him to make a website.

"Siya po 'yun... Kaung ano ang itsura niya diyan, siyang siya," Jayme said.

Jayme showed GMA News their exchange of messages, indicating being promised money so he could hide until the controversy died down.

The National Bureau of Investigation officials said they already knew who Marie Xie's true identity.

The NBI will continue to pursue the personalities involved in the "Bikoy" videos. Authorities are also looking into the possibility of making Jayme a state witness.

"Ang objective is to sow hatred against duly constituted authority. Very possible na maging state witness," NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin said.

In social media, there were several posts showing photos of Jayme with Vice President Leni Robredo.

Jayme, however, clarified that he was not working for Robredo or the Office of the Vice President.

In a separate statement, Robredo's spokesperson lawyer Barry Gutierrez said there is no Rodel Jayme working for the Office of the Vice President.

While waiting for the resolution of the prosecution for the inciting to sedition raps to be filed against Jayme, authorities are also preparing for a cyber libel case based on the complaint of Tess Rañola, who was named in the episode 5 of "Bikoy" videos as among the persons involved in a drug syndicate. —Ted Cordero/NB, GMA News
