Duterte: I'd be happy to go to hell with Joma Sison

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday threw tirades anew against Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Maria Sison, saying that he would be happy to go with the latter to hell.

In his speech during the miting de avance of his party PDP-Laban on Saturday evening, Duterte explained that he was no different from any Muslim, claiming that he has Muslim blood and he has children who are Muslims who have married Muslims.

"I have a Muslim blood in me. Of course, I am neutral in the way I look at Christians, look at… Pareho lang sa akin. I have children who are Muslims, who have married Muslims, started with a Maranao then married to a Joloano," he said.

"So hindi mo — do not look at me differently from the other. But itong Communist Party is also one. So we have many fronts," Duterte said.

"Itong Communist Party na ito, I think hintayin na lang natin na matapos ang natural life nila pati akin. Kasi matanda naman si Sison. O kung kasing-tanda ko siya, I’d be happy to go with him hand in hand to the mouths of hell," he added.

Duterte said he and Sison are never really meant to go to heaven when they die.

"Talagang impiyerno ‘yan," he said.

In April, Duterte said he is not aspiring to go to heaven, and that he is going to hell.

Duterte earlier threatened to kill Sison if the peace talks with the CPP fails once again and he returns to the country from his self-imposed exile in the Netherlands.

The peace talks was about to enter its fifth round in November 2017 when Duterte signed Proclamation No. 360 which terminated the negotiations.

The government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines peace panels were supposed to discuss the Comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reforms, as well as agreements on general amnesty and release of all political prisoners and the coordinated unilateral ceasefires. —Erwin Colcol/KG, GMA News
