VCM in ex-VP Binay's precinct malfunctioned, has been replaced —Comelec spox

The vote-counting machine that was assigned to the precinct of former Vice President Jejomar Binay in Makati City malfunctioned, which explained why his ballot was rejected on Monday morning.

At a press briefing, Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez said the defective VCM has since been replaced.

“Ni-reject ng makina ang balota. Nakita na ang problema is with the machine and the machine has been replaced,” Jimenez said, adding it was not only Binay's ballot that was rejected.

Jimenez said the rejected ballots will be batch-fed to the new machine.

“Ie-evaluate kung mare-refeed pa yung ballot ni VP Binay,” he said.

Binay personally went to the Comelec center to inform them regarding his voting experience.

Jimenez said Binay will return to his precinct in Makati City and will be accompanied by Education and Information Division chairperson Frances Arabe to address the concern. —KBK, GMA News
