Villar, Poe take early lead in Comelec official count


Reelectionist Senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe maintained their lead in the May 2019 Senate race in the partial and official count of the Commission on Elections, sitting as National Board of Canvassers (NBOC).

Based on the NBOC official count as of 9:30 pm, Villar was on top of the heap with 4,092,454 votes or around 400,000 votes ahead of second ranked Poe with 3,650,288 votes.

Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go landed third with 3,293,341 votes, while Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano ranked fourth with 3,251,819 votes.

Rounding up the winners’ circle or the Top 12 were:

  • Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa ranked fourth (3,128,051 votes)
  • Sonny Angara (3,022,955 votes)
  • Imee Marcos (2,850,643 votes)
  • Francis Tolentino (2,584,833 votes)
  • Lito Lapid (2,520,316 votes)
  • Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III (2,439,571 votes)
  •  Nancy Binay (2,366,035)
  • Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV (2,335,724 votes) 

Of the 12, only Aquino is the only bet from the opposition slate.

Outside looking in were: Senator JV Ejercito (2,292,264 votes) and former Senator Bong Revilla, Jr. (1,997,438 votes).

The canvassed votes were sourced from 34 Certificates of Canvass from 130 clustered precincts across the country and Philippine posts abroad.—LDF, GMA News
