Comelec to give PPCRV transparency server logs, says poll watchdog exec

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has granted the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting's (PPCRV) request for the audit logs of the transparency server that suffered a glitch on Monday night, a PPCRV official said Thursday.

PPCRV chairperson Myla Villanueva earlier said that a check on the logs would allow the PPCRV to determine the cause of the seven-hour delay in the display of electronically transmitted election results from the Comelec's transparency server.

The server feeds the PPCRV and the media with partial and unofficial tallies.

"The good news is we're gonna get the logs of the transparency server," PPCRV chair Myla Villanueva said Thursday, adding it was Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo informed her of the development.

"Our IT team will be going to work over the weekend so that we can analyze the logs," she told reporters.

The Comelec said the delay was caused by a glitch om the application that pushed data from the transparency server to media outlets.

"It is important for the public to know kung 'yung issue technical. If it's technical, talaga naman pong nagkakaaberya ang mga makina and we just want to know na 'yun nga lang po, and nothing more, and nothing less," Villanueva said.

The PPCRV has also asked the poll body for access to data in its central server so they could check it against data from the transparency server.

Villanueva expressed confidence that the Comelec would grant the PPCRV's request.

She added that she understood the PPCRV had to wait for the central server to complete its receipt of electronically transmitted results before being granted access to the central server data. —NB, GMA News
