Fishermen in Recto bank incident with Chinese boat reunited with kin

It was an emotional moment at the port of Jose, Occidental Mindoro when Filipino fishermen saw their families again almost a week after a Chinese fishing vessel rammed into their boat and abandoned them at sea.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho", the fishermen broke into tears as they embraced their wives and children who were waiting at the dock.

Their fishing vessel was hit by a Chinese vessel as it was anchored near Recto (Reed) Bank in the West Philippine Sea on Sunday.

The boat's captain said he was convinced that the collision was intentional

on the part of the Chinese.

"Kung sa akin sinadya po 'yon,"  Junel Insigne told GMA News.

It was also clear to him that the vessel sailed away, abandoning them after the collision.

"Nu'ng nakita po kaming lubog na, saka po kami iniwanan."

The fishermen were also devastated to come home empty-handed due to the alleged "hit and run." —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
