Palace: Duterte didn’t ask GSIS chief Aranas to resign

President Rodrigo Duterte did not ask Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas to quit his post, Malacañang said Thursday.

"No, he did not," presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said at a news conference.

Panelo also said he had no information whether Aranas talked to the President prior to his resignation.

Aranas said he quit for personal reasons.

Duterte named Aranas to the state-run pension fund for government employees in November 2017. He previously served as deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
