House speakership rivals Cayetano, Romualdez, Velasco meet
Three congressmen vying for the speakership of the House of Representatives met on Thursday night.
Taguig Representative Alan Peter Cayetano, Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez were all smiles as they were photographed after a PDP-Laban meeting.
Cayetano is with the Nacionalista Party. Velasco is a PDP-Laban member. Romualdez is with Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.
President Rodrigo Duterte recently endorsed Cayetano, his running-mate during the 2016 elections, as his bet for next House Speaker in the 18th Congress.
During the meeting with some PDP-Laban congressmen, Cayetano vowed that the lower chamber of the 18th Congress, under his possible leadership, would have full debates on significant issues that will affect the welfare of the Filipino people.
