Duterte ‘outraged’ by rape-slay of one-year-old boy in Makati —Palace

Malacañang on Thursday said President Rodrigo Duterte was "extremely outraged" by the rape-slay of a one-year-old boy in Makati City.

Duterte's spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Palace condemns the "barbaric" incident and that the "tragic news has reached the attention of the President and he, like all Filipinos, has been extremely outraged by this heinous criminal act."

The Palace commended the Philippine National Police for the immediate arrest of construction worker Gerald Riparip who confessed to committing the crime.

"Given the atrocity of this felony, investigation is also being undertaken to determine whether the suspect is under the influence of drugs," Panelo said.

"We assure everyone that authorities will leave no stone unturned to give justice to the young boy and his family."

Riparip, who was reportedly last seen with the boy on Tuesday, is facing rape with homicide charges. Riparip was arrested on Wednesday after police found blood stains on his underwear. —NB, GMA News
