PAO lawyers steer clear of manifesto seeking Acosta, Erfe suspension

Lawyers from the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) denied on Thursday issuing a manifesto accusing their chief, Persida Acosta, and forensic investigator Erwin Erfe of corruption and seeking their suspension.

"In order to shed light on the matter, the undersigned public attorneys categorically deny the alleged subject anonymous manifestation that has become the subject of fake news,"  they said in a statement emailed to reporters.

"We did not wrote the subject manifestation, nay submitted the same to the Office of the Ombudsman, the manifestation was fabricated by someone else, unscrupulous persons who resort to shady schemes and strategies to advance their personal cause," they added.

The lawyers believe the "malicious and derogatory statement" intends to "malign" Acosta and othe lawyers involved in the Dengvaxia controversy, adding it was a "demolition job" and "an affront to the independence and integrity of PAO."

The manifesto was signed by several lawyers assigned to various services/divisions of PAO. —Nicole Ann Lagrimas/LDF, GMA News
