It's just flu, Noynoy says on absence at Ninoy Aquino Day rites

Former President Benigno Aquino III said he skipped the mass for his father, former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., on Wednesday due to flu.

Aquino issued the statement following the remark of her sister, Kris, that he was “not okay.”

"He's not okay. I'm not at liberty to say what's wrong with him because it's up to him," Kris told the crowd who attended the ceremony marking the 36th death anniversary of her father.

Aquino told GMA News that he experienced the symptoms of flu such as cough, cold and chills. He is now taking medicines prescribed by his doctor.

He also said that he has not been in touch with his sister Kris.

“Maaasahan naman ninyo hindi ako naglilihim sa inyo o nagsisinungaling sa inyo ever. Kung meron talaga ipapalam ko kaagad sa inyo. Pero ito, pangkaraniwan lang talaga ito na malas ko lang itong panahon na ito na mainit-ulan, mainit-ulan....natsambahan ako dito,” Aquino said. —LDF, GMA News
