SENATE HEARING

Aside from lawyer Trinidad, 4 more on hit list killed — Guihulngan police

Aside from lawyer Anthony Trinidad, four more personalities in Negros Oriental  included in the hit list of a group against the New People’s Army have already been killed, Guihulngan City Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Bonifacio Tecson said Tuesday.

This was disclosed after Senator Ronald dela Rosa appealed to Tecson to ensure that others on the hit list of Kawsa Guihulnganon Batok Komunista (KAGUBAK) will remain alive.

“Be sure na itong remaining 14 ay manatiling buhay,” Dela Rosa, public order and dangerous drugs committee chairman, said during the hearing on the spate of killings in Negros province.

The senator initially thought that of the 15 people included in the list and accused of supporting the NPA, only Trinidad was killed.

Trinidad, 53, was killed in a gun attack by yet unidentified assassins while his wife Novie Marie was rushed to a hospital in Dumaguete City.

An initial police investigation showed that Trinidad was on board his sports utility van afternoon when “riding-in-tandem” suspects approached his vehicle and shot him several times.

Tecson said Heidi Malalay Flores who was 11th on the list; Roberto Caday, 12th; and Boy Litong and his son who was accused of being a member of an NPA unit, both on the 15th, were also killed.

He said they got the list as early as January or February 2018 and most of those included already went to his office to clear their names.

“Itong 15 maraming nagpunta sa station. Halos sunud-sunod sila nagpunta nung lumabas ang listahan at nagsabi na hindi sila supporters ng NPA. Nagpa-blotter sila, they wanted to clear their names that they are not supporters of [the] NPA,” said Tecson.

He added that Trinidad requested for security and he provided it whenever the lawyer was in the city. — RSJ, GMA News
