Everyone involved in PMA hazing death will be held accountable – AFP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday promised that all those involved in the hazing death of Philippine Military Academy Cadet Darwin Dormitorio would be held accountable.

"We have already directed the Philippine Military Academy to conduct a thorough and speedy investigation to shed light into the incident. We will also hand over those responsible to proper authorities and let the wheel of justice turn," AFP Chief of Staff General Benjamin Madrigal said in a statement.

The AFP vowed that the incident would be properly investigated and that they were taking the necessary steps to ensure it would not happen again.

The military also denounced the practice of hazing, emphasizing that it would not tolerate any action that endangered the lives of its service-people.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines extends its most heartfelt and sincerest condolences to the family of Cadet Fourth Class Darwin Dormitorio," Madrigal said.

Meanwhile, Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, himself having graduated from the PMA in 1986, symphatized with Dormitorio's the family.

"Lahat naman tayo ayaw mangyari ang hazing. Nangyari nga ibig sabihin 'di napigilan, napakasakit na another case of shattered dreams sa parents at sa mahal sa buhay ng bata na namatay," dela Rosa said in a radio interview.
