Nene Pimentel 'very ill,' family calls for prayers

The family of Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. on Monday asked for prayers for his full and complete recovery, saying he has fallen "very ill."

"Senator Nene Pimentel is very ill and currently under treatment," a statement of the Pimentel family read.

"Doctors and hospital staff are doing their best to help him. We ardently ask that you join us in prayer for his full and complete recovery," it added.

In a separate statement, his party PDP-Laban said the former Senate President was in the intensive care unit.

Specifics as regards the illness and the hospital have yet to be disclosed.
