SALN DECLARATION

Bong Go second ‘poorest’ senator with P15M net worth

In defending his most trusted aide, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, against allegations of interference in a Navy weapons deal in early 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte pointed out that his special assistant is a billionaire.

The summary of Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth (SALN) released by the Senate Tuesday night, however, revealed Go to be the second “poorest” of the 24 senators, and the poorest of the four first-timers in the chamber.

Go has a total net worth of P15,508,370.82 (P28,070,780.82, assets; P12,562,410, liabilities), the Senate records show.

He emerged richer only than detained Sen. Leila de Lima, who has P7,706,392.45 net worth.

Three other first-time senators had bigger net worth than Go.  Senator Francis Tolentino has a net worth of P62,482,000. Senator Imee Marcos declared a net worth of P29,970,467.  Former police chief Ronald dela Rosa comes close to Marcos with P28,258,908 net worth.

Senator Cynthia Villar, the top notcher in the May 2019 elections, remained the richest in the batch with a net worth of P3,534, 412, 797.   Coming in close is the second billionaire in the Senate —boxing champ Manny Pacquiao with P3,005,808,000.
