Kiko on Duterte’s 6-month law enforcement challenge to Robredo: Gawin na nilang 3 years

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan dared President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night to give Vice President Leni Robredo three years at the helm of the country's law enforcement rather than the chief executive's earlier offer of six months.

Pangilinan's statement comes after Duterte said that he plans to cede his law enforcement powers over to Robredo for her criticism of the administration’s drug war.

Dutrte later told reporters that he is not surrendering anything but said he would like to "commission" Robredo to be his "drug czar."

Robredo is chairperson of the Liberal Party, while Pangilinan sits as president.

“Bakit naman six months lang? Gawin na nilang three years at sigurado ako hindi na papalusutin ang tonetoneladang shabu sa BoC (Bureau of Customs), wala na ang araw-araw na patayan ng mahihirap nating mga kababayan habang mga ninja cops at sindikato ay binibigyan ng mataas na posisyon, pinalalaya dahil sa GCTA (Good Conduct TIme Allowance) o inaabswelto at sigurado na hindi na tayo walang imik at sunud-sunuran sa China,” he said on his Facebook page.

"3 years na nilang hawak ang law enforcement so dapat lang 3 years din ang ibigay na oras para fair!" he added.

In an interview with wire agency Reuters last Wednesday, Robredo said the Duterte administration needs to halt its “failed” drug war

However, Robredo lamented on Sunday how the media mishandled her statements, clarifying that she only urged the president to “tweak” his strategy but not completely halt the drug war.

The Palace earlier slammed Robredo for allegedly believing in the lies about the drug war being fed to her by the opposition. —LDF, GMA News
