DOTr officials to donate 14th-month pay to Mindanao quake relief effort

Officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) pledged to donate their 14th month pay to the earthquake relief effort in Mindanao, according to DOTr's Facebook post.

Secretary Arthur Tugade, all the undersecretaries, assistant secretaries and heads of attached agencies, were among the officials who promised to donate their bonuses.

"An initial amount of P1.2M has already been raised with the said pledge, and it is expected to be doubled by tomorrow with more donations from DOTr employees," Tugade said in the FB post.

Tugade had first revealed the pledge during a flag ceremony on Tuesday morning at the DOTr head office in Clark Field, Pampanga.

"Talagang madaling magbigay kapag pera ng iba. Dapat matuto tayong magbigay ng sarili nating pera...Hindi importante kung gaano kalaki ang maiambag. Ang mahalaga ay madevelop natin ang psyche ng pagtulong sa kapwa," Tugade said. — Angelica Y. Yang/DVM, GMA News
