Robredo looks forward to Lacson’s insights on anti-drug war

Vice President Leni Robredo has thanked Senator Panfilo Lacson for the latter’s offer of help in the aftermath of the Vice President’s appointment as co-chair in the inter-agency committee against illegal drugs (ICAD).

Robredo issued the statement after Lacson, a former Philippine National Police chief, announced that Robredo has reached out to him in connection with her appointment to the anti-illegal drugs panel.

“I’m grateful that he offered his help and support as I take on this new responsibility,” Robredo said.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Senator Lacson and learning from his insights and experience,” she added.

Lacson earlier said that he was humbled by Robredo’s gesture and that such action showed her sincerity and seriousness in tackling her new task.

It can be recalled that Lacson’s experience as police officer was instrumental in unearthing that the 13 police officials of Pampanga conducted an unlawful trade in 2013 by faking their report and ultimately undervaluing their nabbed illegal drugs to 36 kilos from 200 kilos during the Senate probe on ninja cops or police officials involved in the drug trade.

Robredo has said that she will push for zero killings in drug war and seeking accountability from authorities, including the police officials who implement the anti-drug operations. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
