Life has begun to take its toll on my health – Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that he was not in the best of health, and that his age was catching up on him.

"Lahat ng sakit, nandito na sa 'kin kasi matanda na ako... Kung sabihin mo, 'Okay ka ba, Presidente? Are you in the best of health?' Of course not. I am old, life has begun to take its toll on my health. At kung sabihin mong may sakit ako, meron. You name it, I have it. Para wala na lang debate," Duterte told Marisol Abdurahman on a Sunday report on Balitanghali.

Duterte made the revelation last Friday in Eastern Samar, where he was visiting with the orphaned families of soldiers who were killed in a clash with NPA gunmen.

Duterte revealed last month that he was suffering from "myasthenia gravis," a disease that causes muscle weakness.

In his speech with the Filipino community in Moscow, Russia, Duterte said that the illness was affecting the movement of his eyes.

The President had also nursed “a very bad case of the cold” while he was in Russia, and that he failed to sleep during the 13-hour flight from Moscow back to Davao City.

He also previously said he has Buerger's disease, a condition that caused constriction of the blood vessels due to nicotine, and Barrett's esophagus, a disease involving the tissue in the esophagus.

The President admitted back in April that his blood was tested "almost every other day" due to the smoking-related illnesses. —Jamil Santos/DVM/KG, GMA News
