Robredo eyes separate rehab facility for drug pushers

Vice President Leni Robredo is eyeing more resources for rehabilitation facilities to separate the drug users from the pushers.

In her capacity as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), Robredo made the pronouncement after meeting with Department of Health (DOH) officials on Monday.

“Sa rehabilitation centers, dahil doon sa plea bargaining ng mga both [drug] users and pushers, nagkakasama-sama sila sa isang rehabilitation center. ... So iyong contamination, malaki.

Nevertheless, Robredo lauded the DOH’s rehabilitation programs for drug dependents.

“Maraming ginagawa, actually, ang DOH na very commendable, very admirable, as far as the rehabilitation and reintegration phase is concerned.

Robredo earlier said that based on government records, 90 percent of drug dependents are slight or occasional drug users who only need community-based, meaning out-patient, rehabilitation program. —LDF, GMA News
