ICAD remains supportive of VP Robredo, says PNP OIC Gamboa

The whole Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) remains supportive of Vice President Leni Robredo as its co-chairperson, Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa said Thursday.

“Of course... lest hindi na namin siya sisiputin sa meeting,” Gamboa told reporters in Taguig City.

Asked if he sees Robredo as an ally of the administration’s drug war, Gamboa said: “Of course, oo naman.”

Gamboa made the assurance after President Rodrigo Duterte bared that he does not trust the Vice President.

The Chief Executive also said Robredo’s behavior after being designated as drug czar did not inspire for her to be given a Cabinet post.

For her part, Robredo said if the President no longer wants her to co-chair ICAD, Duterte should directly say it to her.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Robredo, a vocal critic of the drug war, should not be bothered with Duterte not trusting her as regards confidential data on the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Robredo has said she will do her duty as drug czar even without those pertinent data about the drug war.

Robredo previously requested to have an access on the list of the high value targets on illegal drugs so that she could do her job as drug czar.

Gamboa earlier said Robredo should just focus on the rehabilitation aspect of the anti-drug campaign. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
