Accommodation woes trouble PHL football team ahead of SEA Games

After several international men's football teams suffered hotel and transportation problems ahead of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Philippine women's national football team also faced the same ordeal on Sunday.

A "Malditas" member said in a Facebook post that their rooms were not yet ready when they arrived at their hotel.

"Arrived at our SEAG hotel at 11:30 a.m. Rooms weren't ready yet so we ate lunch while they fixed our rooms. Instead of two persons per room, we've adjusted to 4 to 5 per room," she said in the post.

At 2:15 p.m., the rooms were still not ready for occupancy and they were asked to move to a function room since the lobby is already crowded due to the arrival of other teams.

"Sad that we're the host team and this is how we're being treated. I can't imagine how other countries must feel," she added.

Earlier, the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) apologized to several international football teams after they encountered transportation and hotel arrangements problems upon their arrival in the country over the weekend.

SEA Games 2019 women's football competition will kick off on Tuesday at the Biñan Football Stadium.

The biennial meet will officially open on November 30 at the Philippine Arena. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LBG, GMA News
