Robredo made ‘an a—hole of herself’ as ICAD co-chair, says Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday declared that Vice President Leni Robredo “made an asshole of herself” during her 19-day stint as co-head of an inter-agency anti-drugs body.

Duterte fired Robredo as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) in the same month he appointed her to the position.

“Instead of talking to the law enforcement, instead of talking to the barangay captains, instead of talking to itong mga taong handling the rehabilitation, she made an asshole of herself,” Duterte told reporters in Malacañang.

However, in her short tenure as ICAD co-chair, Robredo visited Market 3 in Navotas City, a hotspot in the police’s anti-drug operations; met with reformed drug users in Dinalupihan, Bataan; and went to a drug rehabilitation center in Quezon City.

She also met with anti-drugs stakeholders in government such as the Dangerous Drugs Board, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Health, in addition to speaking with US and United Nations officials.

The Philippine National Police also said that the Vice President made no missteps in the three weeks she was in ICAD.

“You seem to be threatening na may information ka. Ilabas mo,” Duterte also said, in response to Robredo's statement that she plans to release her findings and recommendations about the drug war. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
