TO BE RELEASED ON MONDAY

Drug war report not meant to scare but help, Robredo says

Vice President Leni Robredo will release her report on the administration's drug war on Monday not to scare but to reveal drug war gaps and how to address them.

In her 19-day tenure as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), Robredo has visited community-based rehabilitation centers for drug dependents and drug-infested communities, calling on the public to help the government in clearing their places of the illegal drug trade.

She has also submitted two reports to the President based on what she gathered during her brief stint in the post, but the President did not respond to these reports.

"We tried to be as comprehensive as possible," she added.

Robredo was eventually fired by President Rodrigo Duterte for supposedly being a failure.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo also earlier taunted the Vice President for taking her time before making the report public, saying that her report could be a dud after all.

At least 5,700 suspected drug personalities have been killed during the police's anti-drug operations since July 2016, but the said figure does not include drug war related deaths perpetrated by unidentified gunmen. — RSJ, GMA News
