Esperon claims he, Duterte, Año part of communist ‘hit list’

National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. on Tuesday claimed that he, President Rodrigo Duterte, and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año are on an alleged communist “hit list.”

Esperon, who is also the vice chairman of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conlift, said the concerned government officials will take the necessary precautions.

“Of course I’m aware of that, I don’t make fun of that... but that does not in any way deter or discourage me from pursuing my functions,” he told reporters in Camp Aguinaldo.

“I did not even read the details of it, nakita ko na lang na nando’n ‘yung pangalan ni Secretary Año, Secretary [Allen] Capuyan, and other officers, which to us is something that is expected or part of the hazards of the job,” he added.

Esperon also said he did not see Vice President Leni Robredo’s name on the alleged list.

Año has said he is not intimidated by his supposed inclusion on the alleged list. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
