Vatican clears Pinoy healing priest of alleged sexual abuse of minors —CBCP

Controversial Filipino healing priest Rev. Fr. Fernando Suarez has been absolved by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith over allegations of sexually harassing minors, according to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

In a letter dated December 13, 2019, the Congregation informed Judicial Vicar and Retired Novaliches Bishop Rev. Antonio Tobias about the "Not Guilty" verdict of Suarez.

"This means that he has been falsely accused of these crimes and, therefore, nothing now stands in the way for him to exercise his healing ministry, provided it is done properly in coordination with the ecclesiastical authority of every ecclesiastical jurisdiction," Tobias wrote.

The CBCP decree of notification was issued on January 6, 2020.

The decree which was authored by Tobias, was shared on Friday by the Missionaries of Mary Mother of the Poor (MMMP) on its Facebook page.

Suarez, who received the notification of his verdict on Friday, is one of the founders of the MMMP.

"Through this press release, I'm hoping that, those bishops- especially those who are somehow stopping me to share this gift of healing especially to the poor, needy and sick... will not use this allegation to stop me in ministering to these people," Suarez said in a video.

Suarez's "not guilty" verdict was handed down in response to a case filed against him by the Notice of Appeals to the Vatican on May 8, 2019. — MDM, GMA News
