Gov’t work for Monday, January 13, 2020 suspended in NCR, Calabarzon, Region 3


Government work in Metro Manila, the Calabarzon Region, and Region 3 for Monday, January 13, 2020 has been suspended due to the ash hfall from Taal Volcano's phreatic explosion on Sunday.

In a statement from his office, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea announced "the suspension of classes in all levels and work in government in the affected areas of Calabarzon, NCR and Region 3," except in "frontline response agencies involved in disaster response, delivery of basic and health service, and/or other vital services."

Calabarzon consists of the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.

Region 3 or Central Luzon is made up of the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.

The Office of the Executive Secretary said that this directive has been made by the authority of the President and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

"The private sector is highly encouraged to suspend work for the safety of their employees," it added.

The Quezon City government meanwhile suspended work on Monday for all its employees except disaster risk reduction and management officers and frontline/emergency response teams of the City Health Department, City operated hospitals, Department of Public Order and Safety, Task Force Traffic and Transport Management, the Radio Communications Office (Hotline 122) and the Social Services Development Department.
