Duterte lauds gov’t response, orders execs to stay in areas affected by Taal eruption

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the response of government agencies to the effects of the eruption of Taal Volcano.

“I am very satisfied with the response of everybody. The fact that no one was killed and that there’s nobody really sick,” Duterte said during the situation briefing he received in Batangas.

Duterte said national and local government personnel in charge of disaster response must stay in affected areas “for a while until such time we are ready to declare that the crisis is over.”

Alert Level 4 has been raised over Taal Volcano as of Tuesday, meaning a hazardous eruption is possible within hours to days, according to state volcanologists. —NB, GMA News
