Experts advise against handholding, ‘beso’ amid nCoV outbreak

With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, experts advised the public against handholding and "beso-beso" as a precautionary measure against the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

“Make sure na bago kayo mag-date, ‘yung boyfriend niyo o ‘yung girlfriend niyo walang ubo’t sipon. It should be standard kasi kahit walang coronavirus kasi there are many viruses aside from corona,” Dr. Ameilta Guzon said in a 24 Oras Weekend report by Katrina Son on Sunday.

“As much as possible, ‘wag muna. Marami pa namang expression of love and affection sa kada isa,” Department of Health Epidemiology Bureau chief Dr. Ferchito Avelino added.

Experts also advised couples to know each other’s travel history and to use alcohol and hand sanitizers before holding hands to prevent the transmission of viruses. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
